Globally, the Nordic and the Baltic regions are emerging as prominent fintech hubs in Europe.
In the Nordics, fintech is thriving, driven by high digital trust, strong sustainability initiatives, and close collaboration between banks and startups, with exceptional digital infrastructure underpinning this growth.
Denmark is widely recognized as one of the world’s most digitally advanced nations, while Sweden is a pioneer of the cashless society. In particular, the capital cities of Stockholm and Oslo rank among the world’s top 20 fintech hubs, supported by stable political environments, favorable regulatory frameworks, and cutting-edge technology.
Today, the Nordic region is home to about 1,350 fintech startups, with Sweden boasting around 500, Denmark 350, Finland 210, Norway 180, and Iceland 70.
The Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have also embraced innovation and technology, becoming leaders in digital finance. Estonia stands out as a hub for fintech innovation, thanks to its superior e-government services, the simplicity of creating new companies, qualified workforce, and entrepreneur-friendly regulations. Today, over 99% of financial transactions in Estonia are conducted digitally, and technologies such as electronic identity and blockchain are widely adopted. Notable companies include neobank leader Wise and blockchain pioneer Guardtime.
Meanwhile, Lithuania has emerged as the largest fintech hub in the EU, issuing the highest number of licenses in the bloc. It is now home to more than 270 fintech firms serving a combined customer base of 27 million.
Finally, Latvia is positioning itself as the next cryptocurrency powerhouse in the EU, actively attracting crypto and blockchain companies through favorable regulation, tax incentives, and government support.
Together, the Nordic and the Baltic regions have become premier destinations for fintech events, attracting global industry leaders to explore opportunities and tackle emerging challenges. Among the many conferences taking place, the following 14 stand out as the most significant gatherings in the last quarter of 2025, bringing together top decision-makers, regulators, and innovators to shape the future of the sector.
