Vilja, a Swedish core banking provider, has been recognised as a Functionality Standout in Celent’s latest report, “Retail Banking Core Systems: Next-Generation Core Banking, 2024.”
The report evaluated 13 vendors globally and identified Vilja as the only Nordic company featured.
Celent categorised next-generation core banking vendors into three segments; Product Cores, Broad Cores, and BaaS Platforms.
Vilja was classified as a Broad Core, a segment designed to support digital direct banks with features like product capabilities, digital onboarding, and card payments.
The report highlighted the growing prominence of next-generation core banking systems over the past five years, noting their shift into mainstream adoption.

“We have recognised Vilja as a Functionality Standout in the category Small and Digital Banks for its broad digital core.
It is an obvious choice for Nordic financial institutions and also worth considering in broader Europe and ASEAN market”.
said Daniel Mayo, Principal Analyst at Celent.

“Being recognised as a Functionality Standout in such a globally respected report highlights the strength of the Vilja Platform.
Our broad, digital core, modular design, and configurable solutions solidify our leadership in the Nordics, and we are now gaining strong traction globally,”
said Fredrik Ulvenholm, CEO at Vilja.
Vilja had recently announced that it will establish a new development center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this year.
The company plans to invest an initial RM50 million over the first five years in the region.
