The Malmö business community has announced the return of the Malmö Residency, a unique initiative designed to welcome forward-thinking individuals to Sweden’s dynamic third-largest city.
Taking place in May and June 2025, the residency provides selected participants with the resources, connections, and inspiration needed to develop projects in a vibrant and collaborative environment.
Following the success of the programme in 2023, which attracted 649 applicants from 74 countries, the second cohort will once again offer a month-long, fully funded experience in Malmö’s thriving entrepreneurial and creative ecosystem.
Participants will receive travel and accommodation support, access to co-working spaces, guidance from industry experts, and invitations to exclusive networking events, exhibitions, and cultural experiences.
The residency is designed to foster collaboration, enabling participants to connect with Malmö’s leading entrepreneurs, researchers, and creatives.
For 2025, the residency is particularly seeking individuals passionate about addressing key areas of interest to the Malmö community.
These include the green transition, with a focus on developing regenerative and sustainable solutions; AI and emerging technologies, exploring ways to enhance society, businesses, and creative work; food innovation, aimed at revolutionizing urban food production; cultural and creative industries, shaping the future of games, art, music, and dance; and wise and digital cities, using technology to make urban spaces more transparent, democratic, and engaging.
Workspaces, Events in Malmö
In addition to professional development opportunities, residents will have access to the city’s workspaces and industry hubs, including Game Habitat, STPLN, Media Evolution, and Minc.
They will also be able to attend major events such as Southern Sweden Design Days (22-25 May) and Invigningsfesten (13 June), which will provide valuable insights and networking opportunities with the wider Malmö community.
Residents will be encouraged to immerse themselves in the city’s unique culture, from its world-class food and arts scene to its welcoming and collaborative business environment.
Malmö is a city that thrives on innovation and inclusivity, with a young, diverse population and a strong culture of collaboration.
Its close links to leading universities and research institutions provide an ideal environment for creative exploration, while its strategic location – just 20 minutes from Copenhagen Airport and five hours by train from Hamburg – makes it an accessible hub for global talent.
Applications for the Malmö Residency 2025 are open until 27 February.
